When The Scale Doesn't Change

When The Scale Doesn't Change

It is all too common for people to focus on a single number on the scale. This also affects their mental health, their perception of success, and their likelihood of remaining adherent. As well as their weight, there are many other markers that you should tap into and focus on, which is what this resource is for.

Firstly, most diets only work based on manipulating your overall calorie intake, sometimes on a drastic scale. This will usually bring about weight loss (or gain) but only in the short term.

Many people are caught up with just seeing progress as a change in the weight scale, but this also holds them back the most.

One of my goals is to always work towards improving someone’s nutrition that I not only focus on how a person is looking but also how they are performing and feeling during the journey.

From my experience, this brings much better results and helps create a successful long-term environment for good nutrition and better health.

This is because we are moving away from a sole focus on how the person is looking to also considering their health and well-being.

We want to focus on three main areas instead of always thinking about scale.

Improved body composition

This is what most people instantly want, be it fat loss or to generally look good naked. If body composition is improving without the expense of the other two components and it is maintainable, you are successful in controlling energy balance.

Improved health

Many people don’t realize their health is a key driving factor to how their body looks. Always think about the benefits of following good nutrition that will improve body composition and health. Your energy, sleep, mood, confidence, and general health will improve.

Improved Performance

We should also aim to improve performance and set goals in advance, whether it be personal interests, hobbies, or general daytime activities.

It’s important always to consider and monitor your progress. It will help us determine future goals and keep things fresh.

Dropping or reducing any of these three factors is a sure sign that the current nutritional goals and recommendations are not quite right.

It's not all about the scale. What about:
• Your past and present diets
• Ethnic origin
• DNA
• Current environment
• Time of year
• Location
• Stress levels
• Toxicity status
• Lifestyle
• Likes/dislikes
• Personal preferences
